We recently got a request from a customer who wanted the oval shaped diamond from her original engagement ring re-mounted into a different setting, with diamonds surrounding the centre diamond and set on the band on the ring. Looking through the mount designs we already had, the customer decided on the following design update `wp_posts` set `post_content` = for a round brilliant diamond) to be set with her oval shaped diamond.
Computer Design of Oval Engagement Ring
As the customer wanted the oval shaped diamond she already had as the centre stone of her engagement ring, our jewellery designer re-designed the ring on the computer so the surrounding diamonds and the setting would fit the shape of the oval diamond.
In the computer design above, you will see that the oval diamond is surrounded by two rows of different sized round brilliant diamonds and the shank of the band set with round brilliant diamonds in cut down settings. The shank of the ring is also split – making it a Wedfit designed engagement ring so it will fill flush against the customer’s wedding ring with no gaps in-between.
The Oval Shaped Diamond Engagement Ring Printed Into Wax
Once the customer was happy with the computer design of the engagement ring and saw the rendered image, it was ready to be made into 18 carat white gold. The shank and the head of the ring were printed separately for a two part cast. When making jeweller as fine and detailed as this, if we cast the head and the shank separately the ring is easier to polish before our goldsmith assembles it.
The Finished Bespoke Oval Diamond Engagement Ring
Both the 3D wax shank and head of the engagement ring were cast into 18 carat white gold. The finished ring features the customers oval shaped diamond, weighing 1.60 carats, beautifully held in a 4 claw setting. In total the round diamonds surrounding the oval diamond and set on the band of the ring weigh 0.40 carats.
