About the Assher Cut Diamond
The Asscher diamond is a distinctive cut with prismatic brilliance. The shape is mainly square with cut corners, but can sometimes be slightly rectangular. The diamond has 58 facets and has a traditional step cut, similar to an emerald cut. For the diamond to appear perfectly square, a recommended length to width ratio is 1.00 to 1.05. The classic diamond was created by Joseph Asscher in the early 20th century during the stylish and popular Art Deco movement. The diamond was the first cut to be granted with a royal title, in recognition of the role of the Asscher family.
