Pear shaped diamonds have recently been in high demand at Steven Stone. Our gold smith has recently been busy setting the diamond shape in earrings, pendants and engagement ring settings. The style of the crossover is a simple, modern take of the traditional claw set solitaire style engagement ring. The design features a sweeping effect where the stone looks to be secured in between the bands. If you look closely you’ll notice the style of the band suits the shape of the diamond where the two ends, as the long, rain drop shape beautifully stands out. With this particular ring the pear shaped diamond is secured in place by a three claw platinum setting. The diamond weighs a total of 0.80 carats, has a VS2 clarity grade and a D colour grade – meaning that the stone is only very slightly included with any internal marks and the colour is completely colourless. As the band joins and meets the stone the shoulders taper, which helps to emphasize the size of the diamond.
