The vibrant blue stone weighs a total of 7.59 carats and is an extremely rare stone. The stone has been graded for its quality by the Gemological Institute of America and was sourced from the famous Cullinan mine near Pretoria, South Africa. This mine is also the world’s main provider of blue diamonds. The stone is expected to do well at the auction as the market for coloured stones has always remained strong, mainly due to their rarity and the fact that they account for 0.01% of mined diamonds in the world. The stone has been graded with a fancy vivid blue colour, which makes it even more rare and appealing to buyers in Hong Kong and mainland China. The last rare fancy deep blue diamond to sell was this 5.30 carat cushion cut blue stone, which sold for $6.2 million. cushion cut blue diamond update `wp_posts` set `post_content` = Image courtesy of Bonham’s)
