The Ever Fabulous Rubellite Cocktail Ring
As part of our “one off” gemstone collection at Steven Stone we have designed this striking Rubellite and Diamond ring, that’s been a big hit with our Instagram fans.
What is a Rubellite?
This beautiful, red/pink gemstone comes from the colourful family of the tourmalines. The rubellite is the most prized and expensive member of the tourmaline family. The stones combine a mixture of reds and pinks that make each one individual and special. Shades can vary from light pink, bubble gum pink, hot pink, dark pink to an intense ruby red tone. The name rubellite comes from the Latin word “rubellus” meaning reddish. This particular stone is a rare stone in the tourmaline family for its unique red colour. Not only does the cocktail ring feature a striking rubellite, there is also a border of small round brilliant cut diamonds that look stunning set against the red stone. The shoulders of the ring also have a split/twist design and the whole ring is made in 18ct white gold.Rubies are a very desirable gemstone due to their hardness and durability and come in a range of shades from red in rich dark nuances to pale pink reds.
Since Sapphires and Rubies both come from the mineral Corundum, Rubies are basically a red variety of Sapphires, but due to their historical significance and popular allure they have always remained an individual gemstone.
Rubies of all colour variations make an excellent choice for engagement rings, eternity rings and wedding rings. Our experts can source diamonds and gemstones of any shape, size and colour.
