Two Emerald Cut Diamond Engagement Ring Designs
We have recently noticed emerald cut diamonds have been a top search for engagement ring styles on our site. When it comes to the ring setting for an emerald cut diamond less is often more. Simple designs like solitaires and diamond set shoulders are often more effective for emerald diamond engagement rings. A simple setting not only fits the square or rectangular shape of the diamond but also compliments its elegant and sophisticated appearance. The emerald diamond has a vintage style step cut with 50 facets and is usually a rectangular shape with bevelled corners. The step cut is basically rows of elongated facets which don’t have as much fire as a round brilliant cut or a princess cut diamond but has more dramatic flashes of light.
A Basic 4-Claw Setting A popular, simple setting for an emerald cut diamond is a 4-claw engagement ring setting where the diamond is held in place by prongs of either white gold, yellow gold, rose gold or platinum. This ring also has a flat shaped band, which adds to the simplicity of this setting.
Diamond Shoulder Setting If you like a simple design with a little bit more sometimes adding diamonds to the shoulders is the perfect option. With this ring the shoulders taper inwards and the small round brilliant cut diamonds are pavé set, graduating in size creating an elegant, vintage look.
