Largest Ever Pear-Shaped Diamond Sells for £17.5m

The flawless, 101.73ct pear shaped diamond has broke records in Geneva today, selling for a huge £17.5 million. This unbelievable diamond has been branded perfect, due to its flawless clarity and exceptional clear white colour – making the stone extremely rare. To show its absolute perfection, GIA even gave the diamond an excellent transparency and brilliance grade. The diamond was carved into a pear shape from a 236-carat rough diamond discovered from a mine in Botswna. In his own words, Rahul Kadakia – head of Jewellery at Christies Geneva auction house said - 'A perfect diamond is the result of the skill and vision of a master cutter who is able to uncover beauty from a rough gem' The new, lucky owner will also have the pleasure of naming this magnificent diamond jewel.
