The World’s Largest Orange Diamond Sells for $36 Million!!

A few weeks ago we posted about this extremely rare and remarkable orange diamond, which was estimated to sell for $20 million at auction. The stone also made big news for being the largest vivid diamond to be up for auction ever. The rare vivid orange gem exceeded its expectations and sold for a whopping $36 million when it hit the hammer this week. The auction took place last night at Christie’s International auction house in Geneva. The stone is pear shaped and weighs a huge 14.82 carats, which also turned out to set a new record for all coloured diamonds sold at auction, as well as a record for the price of an orange diamond of its type. Alan Bronstein, a consultant in coloured diamonds who has previously examined the stone states - “As far as orange diamonds go, it has no peer”. Since the sale yesterday, Christies Geneva auction has become a favourite for buyers seeking impressive, rare diamonds and other gem stones.
