Grace Kelly’s Diamond Engagement Ring Goes on Display
The stunning emerald cut diamond engagement ring that Grace Kelly
received off Prince Rainier of Monaco is one of the jewels set to go on display at Cartier’s biggest exhibition next month. The exhibition will be showcasing some of the most famous jewels worn by royalty and Hollywood legends. The exhibition is set to take place in Paris from the 4th
December at the Grand Palais to celebrate some of the most iconic jewellery in history.
Grace’s engagement ring features a stunning 10.47 carat emerald cut diamond which is set in a vintage/art deco style ring mount which features baguette diamond side stones – a very fashionable style to wear which has recently made a comeback. Although the ring has a vintage appeal, it has touches of modern jewellery design as the two side stones are rub over set where the metal holding them in place is arched around the whole stone for extra security. As well as Grace’s engagement ring, other jewels that belonged to the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and actress Gloria Swanson. In particular one of our favourites is the two matching, stunning diamond
bangles Swanson received in 1930 to celebrate her marriage to Frenchman Michael Farmer. The bracelets are made in white gold and have a striking diamond set design. The exhibition will show case a collection of famous jewels Cartier have designed over the years, worn by some of the stars of the red carpet and royalty since 1902.
