Jane Austin's antique gold ring with the letter is came with A gold ring once belonging to the famous British author Jane Austen has sold at auction for more than five times its original estimate. This remarkable historic ring is set with a vintage oval turquoise semi-precious gem stone beautifully claw set in yellow gold with 20 prongs. The ring is imbued with the romance of her greatest novel - in a statement Dr. Gabriel Heaton, Sotheby's manuscripts specialist, said: "Jane Austen's simple and modest ring is a wonderfully intimate and evocative possession. Due to the everlasting love of Jane Austin’s work – including Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility both made into successful British films, her belongings are cherished and extremely valuable for collectors. The ring was also sold to the lucky anonymous bidder – who made his offer over the phone. The ring also came with a handwritten letter by her sister-in-law Eleanor Austen and came in its original antique ring box.
