This week Miley Cyrus announced she is engaged to actor Liam Hemsworth after dating him for three years. The 22-year-old actor proposed to Miley with a stunning 3.5 carat diamond engagement ring, which is said to be worth $250 thousand. Liam designed the engagement ring himself, basing it on a contemporary style with vintage aesthetics. The engagement ring is set with a large cushion cut diamond, which is over 100 years old and still in its original form from when the diamond was hand cut in the late 1800 century. The old cushion cut diamond is beautifully set in yellow gold in a 4-claw engagement ring setting. The band and shoulders of the ring are set in places with intricately carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern, adding the vintage look of the ring. The image below shows the beautiful design of Miley's engagement ring A very excited Liam took to Twitter to show off the 100 year-old engagement ring, he said: “Here first pic Miley's ring: It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890” He also said that he worked with a jeweller to design the perfect setting for Miley’s engagement ring so the diamond would sparkle no matter where she moves her hand.
