Our favourite UK proposal spots for valentine’s day 2021
If you are thinking of popping the question, it really is never too soon to start planning that unique proposal that will sweep your loved one off their feet. If you want a ring to propose with, then you may want to find out what size of ring you will need, or alternatively if you are considering customisable engagement rings then you will need to allow plenty of time to discuss your idea with a jeweller and also to have the ring made – if you’d like to have the ring to propose with, that is.
While choosing the right engagement ring is a huge decision, and one that we at Steven Stone are always ready to help you with, choosing the right venue for your proposal is also an essential part of the planning. While many like to select a place that has special meaning to them, there are some fantastic spots around the UK that could make for a breath-taking first engagement memory that you’ll remember forever.
The Lake District
Arguably one of the most romantic places in the UK, not least because of its association with the Romantic poets, the Lake District has some truly spectacular and breath-taking scenery. It is hard to narrow it down to an exact spot, as there really are so many, but if you both like walking then the view from the top of one of the many peaks would make the perfect place to propose. If heights are not really your thing, then why not hire a rowing boat on one of the lakes for your proposal. You will not be short of picturesque scenery, wherever in the lakes you propose.
The London Eye
While the breath-taking views that can be witnessed from the London Eye are making it an increasingly popular spot to propose, don’t let this put you off choosing it as your ideal venue. The views are stunning, it’s in a great central location with plenty of restaurants and bars where you could celebrate afterwards - always assuming that the answer is yes - and it is easy on the pocket, leaving you more budget for the engagement ring, and the wedding itself.
In the heart of Prior Park in Bath, you will find the Palladian Bridge. Surrounded by lush parkland and crossing a small lake, this incredibly elegant bridge is undeniably the ideal romantic setting for a proposal. It is well worth combining your trip with a wander around the town itself with its wealth of history and wide range of intimate places to eat – all perfect for setting the mood for your proposal.
Hot air balloon
There are a number of places the length and breadth of the British Isles where you can go up in a hot air balloon but the South Downs with its magnificent landscape, and often more temperate climate, make the ideal location for a ride in a hot air balloon. A mid-air proposal is sure to take your significant other by surprise.
In front of a log fire
It might seem a little bit cliché, but there really is something about the sound of a real log fire that sets a romantic tone. Why not whisk your loved one away for a romantic weekend in a country cottage with stunning views and a real wood fire for an intimate proposal they’ll never forget.
