The Beauty of the Sapphire Gemstones

Sapphires look absolutely stunning set in earrings, pendants, eternity rings and even with diamonds set in engagement rings. The name is from the Greek word “sappheiros” – meaning “precious stone”. Sapphires are a blue transparent variety of corundum, and highly sought after as a precious gemstone. Although the stone comes in different natural colours, the most common and associated is a deep, vivid blue. Like diamonds the stone is graded by colour, cut, clarity and carat weight, and also extremely durable – perfect for everyday jewellery wear. The beautiful blue stone has been worn in Royalty through the years, and was recently given to Kate Middleton when Prince William proposed. The largest Sapphire in the world is a huge 61,500 carats and weighs 12.3kg. The mighty stone was discovered in 1995 on the shores of Madagascar, Africa.

Sapphire and Diamond Jewels Made at Steven Stone

Below are some of the Sapphire and diamond dress rings and engagement rings we have created for customers in the past. Each style is different, and was designed, made and hand set at our jewellery studio and show room just outside of Manchester. If you like any of the styles or want to work with our team to design a piece of jewellery set with Sapphires and diamonds, get in touch. We will work with you to source the perfect Sapphires and create a stunning piece you'll love to wear every day. Don't forget, Sapphires are the birthstone of September - so if you know someone special with a birthday in September make sure you treat them to a Sapphire set jewellery piece.
