The Rare Blue 5.30ct Trombino Bulgari Diamond Sells for £6.2 Million in London

The rare fancy intense blue 5.30 carat ‘Trombino Bulgari Diamond’, we mentioned in a post last month has sold for a huge £6.2 million – that’s £1.18 million per carat. The sale price has even broken the previous record for rare blue diamond’s which was £1.05 million a carat. Diamonds with as much intense blue colour like this are extremely rare and highly sought after. Plus blue diamond’s only account for fewer than 1% of all diamonds mined. The stone was bought by Graff Diamonds a Bonham’s Fine Jewellery sale in London yesterday and had an estimate of £1.5 million. This remarkable deep blue diamond is set in a stunning diamond ring setting in 1965 with brilliant cut and baguette cut diamonds. The design is very similar to a bespoke ring we created for a customer earlier this year. The only difference is the centre stone is a cushion cut blue Sapphire, which is defiantly no way near as rare and expensive.
