There's a New Trend for Non-Traditional Engagement Rings

Diamond have always been a popular gem for engagement rings commonly set in platinum and white and yellow gold. Diamonds represent the a physical symbol of love two people share with each other and the agreement to enter into a marriage together. While the use of diamonds in engagement rings is still a popular choice for many couples in 2012 there has been an increasing interest for engagement rings set with other precious gems such as Sapphires, Emeralds and Rubies. Many also opt to create a bespoke design of their engagement ring breaking away from the traditions of a classic solitaire diamond engagement ring. Some couples decide they want a non-traditional engagement ring set with an alternate gemstone due to their own personal preferences reflecting their personalities. Others follow the trends of celebrities and want to copy their engagement ring styles. Like Kate Middleton’s Sapphire engagement ring and Mark Zuckerberg's wife Priscilla Chan’s Ruby engagement ring. With more and more celebrities sporting non-traditional engagement rings, it looks as though this tend is here to stay.
