What are Blemishes and Inclusions & What Diamond Clarity Grade is Best for Me

As you may already know Diamond Clarity is one of the 4Cs of a diamond that determine its value and describes its quality. Diamond experts will grade the diamond on the amount of blemishes and inclusions both internally and externally that can be seen through a microscopic lens. Internal inclusions occur during the diamonds formation deep under the earth’s surface - where as blemishes on the diamonds surface may occur when the diamond is cut or set into a jewellery piece.

What Clarity Grade is Best For You

It’s always important to buy a diamond that is graded by a reputable diamond grading lab like GIA that will have a specific clarity grading system. It’s extremely rare for a diamond to be graded F – Flawless with no inclusions or blemishes. Our grading starts at IF – Internally Flawless where the diamond has no internal flaws, but may have some blemishes on the surface this grade is rare and expensive. diamond claity grades The next two grades are VVS1 and VVS2 which stands for very, very slightly included. The diamond will have extremely minute inclusions only seen through magnification and is the best option if you want a good clarity grade, but don’t want to pay the price of an IF diamond. The next two grades are VS1 and VS2 which stand for very slightly included, which are again minute and can only be seen through magnification. The last two clarity grades we offer are SI1 and SI2 – slightly included which are more easily detected through magnification. A diamond does not have to be flawless to be stunning. If fact diamonds with a VVS and VS grade are the perfect choice for appearance and for quality. If you want a more affordable certificated diamond SI grades are a great choice and what gemologists call eye-clean.
