Asscher Cut Diamonds Guide

If you like classic vintage jewellery, the Asscher cut diamond might be the right choice for your diamond engagement ring.

Although it appears square, the Asscher cut diamond actually has eight sides, as the corners are cut to allow more light from various angles to be captured.

The Asscher cut is also known as a Square Emerald and is named after its inventor, Joseph Asscher. Until World War 2, the Asscher company held the patent to the Square Emerald cut and was the only company allowed to use it.

Compared to the Emerald cut, Asscher cut diamonds have a smaller table, a higher crown, and larger step facets. The shape and cut look absolutely stunning when set in an engagement ring, with either solitaire setting or with small diamonds set on the engagement ring shoulder.
