Karl Lagerfeld Designed Emerald and Black Diamond Neckpiece

Karl Lagerfeld, creative designer for the fashion house Chanel has designed a quirky piece of jewellery worth £29,000. The designers piece is an collar neckpiece sporting black diamonds and a giant emerald centre stone, inspired by a pets collar. There is a total of 40 carats of black square cut diamonds set in six rows all the way around the neckpiece and a large square cut emerald stone set at the centre of the collar in black rhodium-plated silver. Before this unusual piece of jewellery is sold, it will go on display at the brilliant diamond exhibition from June 28th held as part of the masterpiece London Fair in celebration of the Queens Diamond Jubilee year. Lagerfelid said he created the black diamond and emerald neckpiece to be a collector’s item and due to his love for high collar fashion pieces. Carol Woolton, Vogue’s jewellery editor also said the neckpiece was a masterpiece and a way to add a contemporary jewellery piece to a collection of old jewels at the display. She also added “Diamonds have something magnificent about them – it’s hard to define, but you recognise it you see it”
