“The Orange” Diamond Set to Fetch $20 Million at Auction

This November is going to be an exciting month for Christies Geneva auction house as its set to sell “The Orange” diamond for a whopping $20 million. The diamond is going to be the star of their Magnificent Jewels auction on November 12th. “The Orange” diamond is a rare vivid orange coloured diamond that weighs a huge 14.82 carats. Orange diamonds like this are extremely rare, in fact when they are classed as ‘Fire diamonds’ they are the rarest. The last diamond like this to sell at auction was less than 6 carats, so this stunning pear shaped orange diamond weighs over half what the last sale record was. The diamond has also been described by Christie’s as the ‘ultimate possession for diamond collectors’ and has an estimated sale price of $17 million to $20 million. The diamond is not only rare for its colour; it’s also rare for its vast size, which has been noted as the biggest of its kind. The last record breaking orange diamond – known as the Pumpkin Orange As well as this impressive fancy vivid orange diamond the auction features a lot of 280 other jewels including some of the rarest gems, royal treasures and signed jewels.
