For their vivid colour, rubellites are an increasingly popular gemstone choice for engagement rings and gemstone jewellery

The Rubellite is a vivid gemstone from the tourmaline family, whose gemstones are closely related but exist in a range of different colours. There are red and pink tourmalines in many nuances, varying in anything between a fierce violet and strong ruby-red.

Only a few of the tourmaline family gems are in fact ‘rubellites’. Many gemstones change their colour depending on the light source, however a true rubellite does not.

It shines just as intensely in artificial light as it does in daylight. The colour of most other pink or red tourmalines, by contrast, displays a clearly visible hue of brown in artificial light.
